Kuru - End Of Days

from Sociopathic Mixtape, Vol. 3 by Various Artists

/

about

⋘"End Of Days" is taken from KURU's debut EP "In Between Worlds", released through BURIED IN HELL RECORDS, 2001. A shorter, re-imaged version of the same track can be found on the band's debut full length "Epidemic", also released through Buried In Hell, in 2004. The version here is the "original", longer cut.

The description from Buried In Hell Records reads:

Just found! While moving our inventory we discovered a box of the rare first pressing of Kuru's first demo. This debut recording captures the band in it's infancy, as a three piece, while they searched to find a lead vocalist. It features five of the first songs ever written: "In Between Worlds", "Dreams Of Filth", "Beast Hammer", "Kuru" and "End Of Days. This one was sent to Death Gasm Records and earned them the "Epidemic" record deal! This is ritualistic death metal that conjures slight Incantation/Immolation sounds of eerie death. For old school ears only!

Hurry, theres only about 10 of these left and then they're gone FOREVER! CDR with full color packaging in a shrink-wrapped standard size jewel case.

"This lot of death/grind merchants hails from Sacramento and are clearly not content to play anything trendy or even remotely friendly. The five tracks offered here are sheer brutality, without so much as an acoustic guitar interlude to soften the blow. So be it." - An old 2002 review from D. Hinds at www.the-plague.net"⋙

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ BAND BIOGRAPHY & INFORMATION ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

"Kuru was a brain disease, similar to the mad cow disease, that was discovered in Guinea's cannibal tribes. The disease was caused by the ritualistic consumption of infected human brains and completely disappeared when the tribes stopped consuming them."

Kuru was a brutal death metal band from Sacramento, California. They formed in 2001, headed by Buried In Hell Records' very own Kenneth Hoffman (also from Cura Cochino, Knifethruhead, ex-Hellcrew). The band played a vicious style of brutal death metal, which was deemed as being for "OLD SCHOOL EARS ONLY!!" A likeness between their sound and the sound of bands such as Napalm Death, Suffocation and Nasum has been made time and time again. For good reason, too, as KURU did maintain similarities between these other awesome acts, though always retained a sound & style all their own.

The band released their first full length LP via Buried In Hell Records - entitled "EPIDEMIC" - in 2004. After touring up and down the coast of California, as well as some neighboring states, the band took a bit of time off. It wasn't until 2009 that they put out what would be their final release in the form of a split with Embryonic Devourment, featuring three KURU tracks and two by the aforementioned band. This release was also on Buried In Hell (obviously this is no surprise since band founder Hoffman works so closely with the label to this day).

Shortly after the release of said split, the band called it quits for good. All three of their releases are still available for purchase through Buried In Hell. The original demo, from whence the particular version of "END OF DAYS" came from, is nearly out of stock forever, so if you still wish to get your hands on a physical copy, follow the link in the section below. The price is worth it to own a piece of California metal history!
