about

⋘"Island Of Clones" is one of the three brand new [Needful Things] tracks featured on NEEDFUL THINGS / ROSKOPP 7" SPLIT VINYL, released in July/August of 2012 on Give Praise Records / To Live A Lie Records / PSYCHOCONTROL Records. For those who have been following the SOCIOPATHIC MIXTAPE SERIES, you're already aware that this is the second appearance by Czech grindcore titans Needful Things; a track from their 2011 full length "Tentacles Of Influence" can be found on the first installment of the project. These guys are a favorite of Sociopathic Sound, so expect to hear their name mentioned a lot more!⋙

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ BAND BIOGRAPHY & INFORMATION ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

Czech grindcore titans Needful Things originally formed in 1995 as a four piece band, but the early years were plagued by inconsistency with members (only two members remain from the original lineup today – bassist Otto & guitarist Roman); in particular, the position of drummer has been maintained by at least five different individuals. Regardless of the troubles in solidifying a lineup, the band managed to record a good deal of material which was released through various splits, compilations, and EPs – splits have been with bands such as: Agathocles, Wadge, Existench, Sewn Shut, Pretty Little Flower, Elysium, Final Draft, and Lycanthropy. Finally, after the aforementioned “mini” releases and consistent touring throughout Europe, the band recorded their debut full length “Dead Point” in 2005 (Khaaranus Productions).

Over the following five years, the band continued the pattern of a shifting lineup, 7” split releases, and touring like crazy. As of 2010, however, it finally seems as if Needful Things have solidified their lineup; the band consists of: Tomas (bass/vocals), Roman (guitar), Otto (bass), David (guitar), and Daniel (drums). Throughout 2010, the group recorded their sophomore full length and what would prove to be the best grindcore album of the year in 2011, “Tentacles of Influence” (Obscene Productions). Today, the band continues to expand their horizons, being able to tour in the U.S. for the first time in their long career (Maryland Deathfest 2012 followed by a full headlining tour). To coincide with the U.S. tour, the band has released a 7" split with ROSKOPP through Give Praise Records / To Live A Lie Records / PSYCHOCONTROL Records.
