◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ BAND BIOGRAPHY & INFORMATION ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

KVAZAR were formed in February 1998 and as every newly-created band, they started rehearsing immediately. Two years later, in March 2000, “A Dead Life…” demo is released, followed by “Hunger”, their first album, in 2001, both of which helped make their name known in the underground Greek scene as a much promising Death/Grind band. Also, two tracks from “Hunger” made their way into V/A compilations (“Dead Spot” humanfly, “Greece Attacks” Sound&Vision).

After a short break in 2002-2003 (military duties) and some line-up changes, the band was once more back on track writing new material that would later become their second full-length. In May 2006 they hit ROCK SOUND studios with sound engineer George Brigos (Inveracity, Less than Human, Homo Iratus, etc.) to record “Flatlined”. Although the recordings where finished as scheduled, mixing and mastering were not complete until next year’s summer (August 2007).

In between, Kvazar parted ways with long-time drummer John Spanos after having recorded his parts and Antonis Vafeiadis (Terrordrome, Mass Infection) immediately took his place. At the time they also made contact with Athens-based “Venerate Industries” (Label/Promoter) which became interested in them.
Things were going rather well for the band in 2007 with many live performances and new songs, until the unexpected departure of Antonis and Dimitris Tsavdaridis (second guitar). Kvazar was then put into indefinite hiatus…

…Until spring 2009, when drummer Kostas Ladopoulos joined the band. The group continued as a four-piece rehearsing and writing new songs following a more “Grindcore” approach. The band is now active giving live performances to make their new sound known to the scene and to promote “Flatlined”, which was released in January 2010 (finally!!!!) by Venerate Industries.

After such a long and storied history, it's unfortunate the band recently finished recording their final release ever; a split album with KRATZER (who also appear on The Sociopathic Mixtape Series!).
