Reign Supreme - The Hopelessly Devoted

from Sociopathic Mixtape, Vol. 4 by Various Artists

/

about

⋘"The Hopelessly Devoted" comes from REIGN SUPREME's most recent release; the "Sky Burial" EP (Mediaskare, 2012). The sound found on not only this track but the entire EP is without a doubt leaps & bounds beyond anything the monstrous hardcore group has ever created before.⋙

Reign Supreme
Hometown: Philadelphia, PA USA

Joe Vergara: Drums
Mike Doto: Guitar
Jay Pepito: Vocals

Reign Supreme are one of the heaviest/hardest metallic hardcore bands to surface from Philadelphia in over a decade. Led by former Blacklisted member Jay Pepito on vocals, they wield the same devastating musical hammer as bands like Crowbar, Terror, and Integrity. Yet come out swinging with a conviction and rage unlike anyone before them.

In 2006, Reign Supreme unleashed their classic demo on an unsuspecting hardcore world (now released as a 7"EP titled "F*** the Weak" on the Rock Vegas label). In early 2007, the band released a 12" Single on Robby Redcheeks' Dead By 23 label. This marked the first time that a 12" Single was recorded and released for a single show.

"American Violence" was Reign Supreme's first release for Deathwish/Malfunction. Recorded by Will Putney @ The Machine Shop (Lamb Of God, V.O.D), "American Violence" is a five round sonic war. With songs like "Iscariot" and "To A Dead God", they rise up to strike down with a bone shaking violence that few could possess. Leading the pack while thinning the herd with their unflinching power, confidence, and intensity.

"Testing The Limits Of Infinite" is Reign Supreme's highly anticipated debut full length album. Produced by Will Putney at The Machine Shop (Lamb Of God, VOD, Every Time I Die), "Testing The Limits..." takes the accessible metallic hardcore foundation popularized by many, and injects a fresh warm blood deep within it. The result is a new breed of anthemic metallic hardcore; immaculately executed, intensely heavy, and refreshingly unpredictable. Songs like "Persevere And Overcome" and "Slipping Away" smash through expectations with earth moving power, while the introspective instrumental "Waiting" as well as the winding "To Live And Die (In Vain)" show a sonic diversity rarely found in heavy music. Proving that Reign Supreme are a true anomaly in today's music world, playing the role of both the hammer and the nail.

The band recently released a brand new EP consisting of their most intense and solid output to date; entitled "Sky Burial", it sets in motion the future of REIGN SUPREME. Should they continue to evolve in the manner seen on "Sky Burial", there's no doubt the band will soon become considered as a "leader of the pack" when it comes to brutal-as-fuck, chaotic hardcore.

Reign Supreme continue to release music and tour throughout the world.

lyrics

So blinded that you can't see
That your baby has become a bastard
And your only love is an unfaithful whore
Always on her knees in the pursuit of something more

Watch it burn
Watch it bleed
Watch it die

No faith to keep
No sons to weep
No future
Let the wolves in
They devour what we left

No faith to keep
No sons to weep
No future
Let the wolves in
They devour what we left behind

I hope it dies in your arms
So you know just how it feels
Falter and crumble like the weak mess that you are
And know that I knew all along
Sing your empty words to your empty song

Let the wolves in
Let the wolves in
Let the wolves in

They devour what we left behind

So blinded you can't see
That demons and devotees
Are different names for the same thing

Always on her back in the pursuit of something more

I wanna watch you burn
Nailed to the cross you built
Like a god in your fantasy world
They devour what we left behind
