⋘As you can clearly tell, none of the five tracks written and recorded by SLUMLORD BEAUTY were ever officially named; thus, the track found herein is merely labeled "Track 01" since it appeared as the opener on the band's EP (which never actually saw the light of day in an official capacity).

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ BAND BIOGRAPHY & INFORMATION ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

SLUMLORD BEAUTY is a now-defunct project which was based out of Central Massachusetts; formed in early 2011, the band's original lineup consisted of the following members:

Liz M - Vocals
David C - Drums
Kevin K - Bass
Jesse G - Guitar

According to what I was personally told by Jesse via email conversations (mostly pertaining to another project of his which appears on The Sociopathic Mixtape Series), the reason Slumlord Beauty ultimately broke up before managing to ever really get going aside from playing a bunch of local shows (e.g. no official EP or album came out) was simple; not all of the members involved were as serious as the people who genuinely wanted the band to succeed and prosper.

Now, Jesse did not name any names when it came to asserting blame; in all honesty he just seemed a bit letdown by the band's failure to produce more than a few recordings and live shows. And I can absolutely tell why; the band had a fuckload of potential to be AMAZING, as evidenced by the few songs that do exist - obviously including "TRACK 01" included here.

Nevertheless, it should be noted that Jesse and Dave have a full-time band they're involved with called BOXCUTTER FACELIFT, and for as much as I personally love the combination of sludge & grind played by Slumlord Beauty, the sheer and utter insanity of the straight up/experimental grindcore style that defines BOXCUTTER FACELIFT is more to the tune of my favorite type of music. So I suppose the lesson learned is.....when one good thing dies, another - perhaps even better thing - rises from its ashes!!!

Make sure to keep your eyes open for the Boxcutter Facelift track which appears in the fourth position on Sociopathic Mixtape, Vol. 5 (due out in 10-15 days from the release of Vol. 4 here). There is some additional and VERY EXCITING news regarding Boxcutter Facelift & Sociopathic Sound Records, but we'll save revealing it for when Vol. 5 comes out.

A few more minor things to say about SLUMLORD BEAUTY before we sign off from this band and move on.....

"We were just some friends that started writing songs. It's ugly and heavy. We're not perfectionists we just like music."

Truthseeker sert-il à Brendan James Hayter et Alex Fewell, deux artistes versés dans le death metal, d'excursion éphémère hors du sentier ? Je pose cette question parce que ce projet n'a eu le droit qu'à deux sorties : Weightless at Dawn que nous avons ici et Blue Oblivion sorti la même année — et depuis, rien. C'est bien dommage au vu de toutes les qualités réunies dans ce petit E.P. : bien que taillées dans un post-rock assez lent à tendances doom metal, c'est d'une légèreté exceptionnelle !
