⋘"Vultures Prey" is taken off VOTNUT's debut, self-titled 7" album; released in mid July 2012; and what a hell of an introductory effort it is by this extraordinary band. Combining elements of grind, thrash, black metal, crust, and death metal, Votnut transcend the confining boundaries of all those genres as independent musical styles and manage to create a sound all their own.

The physical 7" vinyl version of "Votnut" is available through Antithetic Records; according to the label page:

"...7″ vinyl is limited to 500 hand numbered copies, all on black vinyl. We have less than 300 copies available here in the store. There are also a handful of test press bundles available as well (only 13 total test pressings exist). Test press bundle is a copy of the test press along with a standard numbered copy. These will sell fast!"

VOTNUT are from North Carolina, and feature members of fellow Antithetic band Young and in the Way. They play dark and chaotic music that incorporates elements of grind, hardcore, punk, and sludge. This self titled 7″ features six songs that last just under nine minutes. VOTNUT is a must listen for fans of Cursed, Enabler, Dead In The Dirt, and Black Breath.

VOTNUT from North Carolina fucking rip the flesh off of humanity with their awesome chaotic sound! What we have here is a 6 song EP that will be released by Antithetic Records in the near future. I could give their music labels, but fuck that, if you dig outright mayhem-fueled tunes this band is for you. VOTNUT’s vocalist has a style that makes me feel like rats are eating away at my being, and for some reason, I don’t want them to stop. Turn their song “Wallow Within” up to ten and you start involuntary head banging. As songwriters, this anti-human horde knows how to harness their power while still creating volcano-like grooves that spray blazing riffs everywhere. If you don’t believe me, make sure you check their composition “Vultures Prey” – this is an angry song that packs a neverending amount of murder melody. So what do I want from VOTNUT? More fucking music like this off the chain EP. I can already hear them on the next volume of our
Blackened Everything Mixtape series. Don’t be surprised if this band gets signed soon, because they know how bring ancient sonic torture methods with their music. If you are reading this, it’s your job to spread the word about VOTNUT, because this band will slap the taste out of the Pope’s mouth!

Truthseeker sert-il à Brendan James Hayter et Alex Fewell, deux artistes versés dans le death metal, d'excursion éphémère hors du sentier ? Je pose cette question parce que ce projet n'a eu le droit qu'à deux sorties : Weightless at Dawn que nous avons ici et Blue Oblivion sorti la même année — et depuis, rien. C'est bien dommage au vu de toutes les qualités réunies dans ce petit E.P. : bien que taillées dans un post-rock assez lent à tendances doom metal, c'est d'une légèreté exceptionnelle !
