⋘"Civilization" is an exclusively released track by Japanese apocalyptic industrial grind / blackened death metal via SoundCloud; it is the most recent song put out by the band; according to their SoundCloud page (linked below) it was made available for streaming around July 2012.

Here at Sociopathic Sound Records, we're impatiently awaiting the follow-up to their 2010 masterpiece, entitled "空洞" (translates to "empty" in English), and if "Civilization" is indicative of the direction the band is taking with their already out of this world, insane sound, then they're likely to reach levels of greatness which would be on par with ANAAL NATHRAKH; in fact, COHOL is one of only a few bands - all of them being extremely underground and generally unheard of (you can find ALL of these bands throughout our mixtape series, though!) - who play a style of music similar to the industrialized, blackened death/grind/apocalyptic extremity of the former band without sounding as though they're a cheap imitation of the originators. No, COHOL are indeed an entity all its own, and you would be wise to seek out "empty" as well as their earlier EPs!⋙

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ BAND BIOGRAPHY & INFORMATION ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

Talk about bands who's information is difficult to find! There is no official biography of this group anywhere; even on their main site the "Profile" page merely states the three member's names and nothing more.

What we do know is Cohol formed in Kanagawa, Japan in early 2000; the band later moved to Tokyo, where they remain based today. Consisting of only three members (guitars, bass, & drums are their instruments of choice, even though the drumming sounds VERY inhuman at time), the band released their first demo - "Quinte Essence" - approximately three years after their formation.

In addition to a three-way split with Tiala & Gauge Means Nothing, as well as a number of appearances on varying compilations, the band's official discography is as follows:

"Crying Of Humanity On The Liturgy" (Demo, 2005)
"Consume The Obsessed Hatred On The Liturgy" (Demo, 2007)
"空洞" (Full Length, Satire Records, 2010; translates to "Empty")

Around 2011, the band officially signed to OSMOSE PRODUCTIONS and are currently working on the follow-up to "Empty"; the track "Civilization" is expected to appear on the new LP in remixed & remastered form. Although no release date has been set, we do know the band has been working on the sophomore effort for several years now, in between playing countless shows in Japan and other parts of Asia - this includes many festival appearances, too.

Equinox, split entre Ancient Tundra et Old Forgotten Lands, est une expérience de dark ambiant qui nous met entre chiens et loups. Bien que rétros, les atmosphères sont hypnotiques et chargées de mystères. Finalement, c'est dommage que le concept de l'équinoxe ne soit pas poussé jusqu'au bout et que le temps imparti pour les deux artiste ne soit pas équitable car N Skog finit par éclipser involontairement Elan O'Neal. De l'action de descendre sciemment vers le néant au constat simple, lancé dans un dernier soupir, comme si on était mis devant le fait accompli : There is no beauty left here... Mais contre toute attente, ce chant du cygne d'Exiled from Light n'est pas une acceptation résignée de la mort. Mort (je parle de l'artiste) est animé de l'énergie du désespoir, cette énergie qui fait accomplir des choses extraordinaires quand tout est perdu et ça rend son DSBM très beau, paradoxalement.
