C-4 - Napalm Rains

from Sociopathic Mixtape, Vol. 5 by Various Artists

about

⋘Polish grinding machine C-4 wrote, recorded and released a seven-track EP titled "I Hope They Heard C-4 In Hell" (2010); although the group has been around for many years, thus far the aforementioned short-player amounts to the entirety of their output (save for a couple of new tracks made available for streaming through ReverbNation, among a few other social media outlets controlled by the grinders).

The seventh & final track is also perhaps the most powerful of the band's original material; closing out the album with "Napalm Rains" was rather ingenius, for if you compare their more recent output (which you can hear by clicking on the ReverbNation link below) - which is said to be "meaner, faster, and more extreme" by the band themselves - you'll find it sounds closer to "Napalm Rains" than any of the other six tracks on "I Hope They Heard C-4 In Hell". It will be interesting to see where the band goes from here; a full length is way overdue at this point!

If you dig these guys, follow the Bandcamp link on the bottom of this profile page....the debut EP is offered at "Name Your Own Price"; while we do encourage all fans reading this to support the band by throwing them a couple of dollars for the release, it's always nice when you can get an album for free legally :-) Thank you, C-4, now when's that first long player?!?!⋙

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ BAND BIOGRAPHY & INFORMATION ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

C-4 is a grindcore / death'n'roll band which formed circa 2005 in the southern Polish city of Bielska-Białej. In its original inception the band was meant to consist of five members (a lead vocalist, two guitarists, a drummer, and a bassist); however, early on in the group's evolution it experienced numerous problems - particularly when it came to the seemingly endless shifting lineup of members coming & going at a whim.

It took three whole years for the band to write any material whatsoever, yet by the summer of 2008 they still had nothing officially released (not even in demo format), not to mention what was meant to be a 5-piece act turned out to only maintain 3 consistent individuals - and even of these three not all of them would stick with the band through the developmental stages. It seemed as though everything was against them and at times the entire project was almost scrapped in favor of more fruitful endeavors.

But, quite suddenly, their collective luck changed in the fall of 2008 when they acquired a second guitarist (Babock) who also had the ability to perform backup vocals for C-4. Once he joined the entire band felt as if they could finally continue writing, making changes & additions to the semi-composed material that had built up over the long three year period. Unfortunately, another streak of bad luck struck in the first half of 2009, when original bassist (and one of the founding members) JJK was booted from the band due to his inconsistency and procrastination. It didn't take long for his replacement - Vojtyłe - to join the effort.

C-4 managed to write & record their first demo in the summer of 2009, doing so as a 4-unit group. Minimal copies of the demoed material were ever distributed, keeping C-4 deeply rooted in depths of the Polish underground scene. A short while after the demo came out, the band - for the first time in its history - picked up a fifth member; Boris, who would handle lead vocals and in everyone's minds finalized the lineup for good.

...or perhaps not so much; more drama ensued following Boris' departure from the act after playing only a small handful of live gigs together. At that time the remaining members of C-4 decided to continue on as a four-piece unit and therefore writing sessions moved forward in preparation for their first official release.

Just as the writing sessions for the first 7 songs were being wrapped up, enter a new fifth member into the lineup; Zakku, who would prove to be the final piece of the puzzle when it came to who would handle vocal duties. For what was perhaps the first time in their storied history the band felt an instant connection with Zakku, and vice versa - he was precisely the creative spark they required to attain confidence in recording the first EP, and it is said that he had a hand in shaping the tracks in a very major manner despite joining the team very late in the game, so to speak. The tracks had been five years in the making, but it was Zakku's influence which ultimately made them whole.

After what felt like an eternity, the band FINALLY got into the studio again, this time with their new & permanent lead vocalist; in a matter of several weeks "I HOPE THEY HEARD C-4 IN HELL", the group's debut 7-track EP, was complete. The effort was independently put out by these persistent grindcore diehards around the middle of 2010. For the rest of the year, they experienced another round of stagnation & inactivity - this time because of an ever-shifting bassist slot in the lineup. However, this bassist issue was resolved when Tomekh entered into the picture, allowing the band to breathe a sigh of relief in tandem with solidifying the line-up for good (or so everyone hopes!!!).

Since late 2010, C-4 has remained a five piece band, just like the founding members originally intended it to be; they've played a small number of local shows, but more importantly they have been focusing on evolving their sound & expanding it into new/unexplored territories. According to social media posts and several interviews done by underground zines/websites, the band is nearly prepared to enter the studio and to pump out a debut full length record, one which they feel will exemplify their talents and abilities - not only as individual musicians but as a bombastic, unstoppable force........as.........C-4!!!!
